After two long days working overtime at the radio station, plus the new netbook arriving and me needing to set it up (getting rid of Windows and going with Ubuntu), I don't even have much time to think about RPGs.
I need a break, so I thought I'd share one of my favorite Babycakes videos, all about RPGs.

I didn't know you were a Ubuntist. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteHave you had success withUbuntu/Linux before? I've been thinking about changing to one version or another.
ReplyDeleteActually, I'm trying Ubuntu out for the first time. Everything I've read says that the processors most netbooks (including the one I bought) use aren't really powerful enough to run Win7 smoothly, and using it on our desktop, I can't really say I'm that enamored of the system.
ReplyDeleteSince I primarily need the netbook for word processing, some picture management, and some internet surfing, and Ubuntu comes with OpenOffice, GIMP and Firefox, it seems like the smart thing to do.
I'll let you all know how I like it in a few days.
I sold my netbook a little while back but if I still had it I'd be checking out Ubuntu's Netbook Remix again.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.ubuntu.com/netbook - It was a little rough back when it first came out but maybe the kinks are worked out by now. You're probably already aware of it, but thought I'd mention it just in case...
You might take a look at Jolicloud. I tried it for awhile on my son's netbook. It's made specifically for netbooks and they have a list of systems that it is optimized for on their site. It was dead simple to install, picked up my home wireless right away and getting the driver for our printer was a snap. It comes with OpenOffice and Firefox, as well a list of other apps. It even sets itself up for dual-booting if you are so inclined.
ReplyDeleteSheesh. I sound like a commercial.
