I used to listen to White Zombie quite a bit in my college days. Don't listen to them, or Rob Zombie's solo stuff, much anymore.
But I was wondering this morning (it was one of those shower thoughts that stuck with me)--was Erol Otis one of the influences on his art work?
I present for you to compare:

ReplyDeleteAhh, my favorite back-of-an-album-cover ever. Two NPCs in my long-running 2e game had those ladies for character pictures.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought that much of Zombies work was more influenced by the artwork found on Psychobilly albums(like The Meteors).
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't jump the gun on there being a definite connection. Erol Otus may have a unique look among game art, but among art, period, not so much. The Zombie picture looks to be drawing on a lot of things, things that Otus himself was influenced by.
ReplyDeleteI dunno. I see more of a 60s rock poster, and Big Daddy Roth influence than Otus. I would suspect, though, that Zombie played some D&D in his day.
