Dammit, I liked that guy. Hated wrestiling, but I liked him. Think I saw him play himself in a few films when I was a child. The Hulk Hogan ones maybe?
Macho was great. He was one of those few guys who was outstanding to watch both on the mic and in the ring. It's a real shame that he never was inducted into the wrestling hall of fame while he was still alive. He definitely deserves a spot there. Oooh yeah!
Another piece of my youth has broken away...I don't know how many hours I spent watching Macho Man and the rest of the WWF crew back in the day. We'd watch them all go through their antics and then go outside and, in true kid fashion, try to recreate all their moves. Yes, including pile drivers and suplexes. No one every got really hurt.
Farewell, warrior, and may you fight and feast well forever in the halls of Valhalla...
So young, still.
ReplyDeleteHadn't he just gotten married, too? Very sad.
